1) First off, join Youth for Change International, a youth movement for change, where you can write about your volunteer experiences, represent your country, write articles about any world topics, and talk with people around the world. You can also get involved with any of our own online and grassroots projects, or check out our partners.
2) Volunteer in your community with your church or local non-profit group. Some of our favorites include Habitat for Humanity, the United Way, and various food banks. You can find places to volunteer by going to VolunteerMatch.com.
3) Donate to your favorite cause, from animal shelters to international relief charities. Some of our favorites include Heifer International, UNICEF, and World Wildlife Fund. To find a Charity, go to NetworkforGood.org, or review charities at CharityNavigator.org.
4) Save the earth, through environmentally friendly actions. From recycling, to reusing, to simply taking shorter showers, find out our list at our Green Dream project, go there.
5) Get some friends, and start your own fundraiser for a nonprofit you appreciate.
6) If you can, vote. If you are not old enough to do so, choose a candidate that you admire most, and decide who would make the best president. When you decide, you can get involved with the campaign by volunteering, and spreading the word about it.
7) Use social networking websites like MySpace, Facebook, Change.org, Orkut, and other places to help connect your group to other people. You will help inspire people to act.
8) Write your representatives letters about topics that concern you. Almost 99.9% of the time, they will write you back and respond with their input on the problem.
9) Decide now whether you want to pursuit money or happiness in life. It can help shape it, and will help you focus on others, instead of yourself.
10) Get your friends to join you in your effort to change the world!
[Coming Soon] Request a FREE* copy of a YFCI "Make a Change" toolkit with steps for action, a commitment card, tips to start your idea, and information on other reasources that can help you.
*Note: We, as an international youth community, ask that after you recieve your materials, you please send us a check or cash that covers the cost of shipping the letter. This will help us greatly because the cost of shipping is bought by the teenagers. We really appreciate even $1 that will help us cover all of our costs. At this time, it will only be availible at this time to people that live in the United States (as of postage costs).
